The 2026 Mohican MTB 100 held May 16 brought back a few memories for Ryan O’Dell, founder and director of the Ohio Mountain Bike Championship series.
“This race started 24 years ago with 30 of, mostly, my friends that got lost,” O’Dell said. “Somebody had picked up all the signs at one area.”
Riders loved the first event and told other mountain bikers to come check out the trails at Mohican in Loudonville, Ohio.
“It grew from there,” O’Dell said. “It started doubling in size.”
The race has attracted nearly 700 entrants some years. In 2026, there were 450 bikers registered by race time.
“This the most awesome conditions we’ve had for maybe the whole 24 years,” O’Dell said. “When the conditions are this dry and the course gets hard, you can really fly along those trails.”
Who won the 2026 Mohican MTB 100?
Matthew Edwards of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, won the men’s open category of the Mohican MTB 100 in 8:01:05.63.
Maia Paris of Forked River, New Jersey, won the women’s open category of the Mohican MTB 100 in 10:14:41.02.
Christian Tanguy of Rochester, Michigan, won the men’s 50+ category of the Mohican MTB 100 in 8:57:24.97.
Dave DeLano of Pinckney, Michigan, won the men’s 60+ category of the Mohican MTB 100 in 13:50:06.39.
Jeremy Gardner of Baltimore, Maryland, won the single-speed category of the Mohican MTB 100 in 9:46:23.51.
Ryan Fulton of Saint Clairsville, Ohio, won the Juniors 15-18 category of the Mohican MTB 100 in 10:09:37.76.
